Two days before Christmas, a bundle was left on the step of the veterinary clinic where President Red Bellamy works.  Inside was found a seven-week-old, Sharpei-mix puppy, thin, sick with parasites, and with wounds on his head where someone had removed his ears with scissors, a half inch from his skull. "Skipper" was adopted by one of the technicians at the clinic and now gets to play with two young boys, gets medical attention, food, love — in short, everything a growing puppy needs and wants ... except his ears.

Photos were taken by Red Bellamy.
